Our History

From a family plumbing shop in 1910s Chicago to today's Highland Lakes team — four generations in the trade, and more than a century of showing up when our neighbors need us.

1910s Chicago — Today's Hill Country

More Than a Century of Family Plumbing

Long before Brandenburg Plumbing put its first truck on the road in Texas, our family was already in the trade. Our great-grandfather, Edward E. Wiesbrook, opened a plumbing shop outside Chicago in the 1910s — a business that served everyone the same, from neighbors who paid in chickens and eggs to the city's most infamous resident, Al Capone, who hired Edward more than once and always paid in cash.

The trade passed from Edward to his son Raymond after WWII, and in 1997 our parents, Troy and Terry Brandenburg, founded Brandenburg Plumbing in Burnet, Texas. In February 2023 we — their sons Lucas and Adam — bought the company, and today we co-own it from our shop in Marble Falls, serving the Highland Lakes and North Austin — with family roots in plumbing reaching back more than a hundred years. This is the whole story.

Getting started in Chicago

Great Grandpa Edward E. Wiesbrook started his plumbing company sometime in the 1910s outside of Chicago. He was very successful and active in his community, even donating land to build a church in his hometown. His name is still engraved on some of the drains within the church he helped build.

Working for Al Capone

Great-grandpa Edward strove to serve everyone equally, even bartering for chickens and eggs when customers struggled to pay. His most famous client, Al Capone, recognized quality, affordable work when he saw it, hiring Edward multiple times. Apparently, Capone always paid on time and in cash. Due to a change in company policy, Brandenburg Plumbing no longer serves violent gangsters.

Great-grandpa's son Raymond Wiesbrook began his own plumbing company in the early 1950s after his return from WWII. In addition to his Master plumbing license, he held licenses in electrical and air-conditioning repair.

Our Thrifty Grandpa

Here is our grandpa again, still hard at work, still wearing the same flannel as he was decades earlier. We are certain he passed those savings onto his customers.

Brandenburg Plumbing is Born

Our father, Troy Brandenburg, established Brandenburg Plumbing in Burnet, Texas in 1997, running the business with his wife Terry out of our home, and, with considerable more difficulty, raising five sons. In February 2023, two of those sons, Lucas and Adam Brandenburg, bought the company. Today we co-own it from our shop in Marble Falls and strive to uphold the same family values and strong work ethic upheld over our company's long history.
