Repair or replace?
Know your options before a big repair.
When a compressor or outdoor coil fails, the question is whether to fix the system you have or replace it. Your technician weighs the repair against your system’s age and condition, and gives you a written price for both, so you can choose.
Older systems may use R-22, a refrigerant that was phased out: new systems haven’t used it since 2010, and it hasn’t been made or imported in the U.S. since 2020.

How do I know what size AC system I need?
Proper sizing requires a professional load calculation—not just a guess based on square footage. We evaluate your home's insulation, window placement, ceiling height, ductwork, and local climate data to determine the exact cooling capacity needed. An oversized unit short-cycles and wastes energy, while an undersized unit runs constantly and can't keep up. Getting the size right is the most important part of any installation.
What SEER rating should I look for in a new AC?
Cooling efficiency is rated in SEER2, the federal test used since 2023 (it replaced SEER). The federal minimum in Texas is 14.3 SEER2 for most home air conditioners and for heat pumps. We often recommend a step above the minimum for the best balance of upfront cost and long-term energy use. Higher-efficiency systems cost more up front and use less electricity, which matters given how many months we run AC here in Central Texas.
How long does a new AC installation take?
A standard replacement of the outdoor condenser and indoor evaporator coil typically takes one day. If we're also replacing the furnace or air handler, adding a new thermostat, or making ductwork modifications, it may take an additional half day. We'll give you a clear timeline before we start and make sure everything is tested and running perfectly before we leave.
Will a new AC system work with my existing ductwork?
In most cases, yes—but it depends on the condition and design of your existing ducts. Older or undersized ductwork can restrict airflow and prevent a new system from performing at its rated efficiency. We inspect your ductwork as part of every installation and will let you know if any modifications, sealing, or insulation upgrades are needed to get the most out of your investment.
